Forging Machine Setters, Operators, and Tenders at ForseMark are
pivotal in the manufacturing process, responsible for setting up
and operating machines to shape and form metal products through
the forging process. They play a crucial role in producing durable
and high-quality components while ensuring precision and efficiency
in production.

Typical Duties
- Set up forging machines according to specifications and work orders.
- Install and secure dies, tooling, and workpieces in the machine.
- Adjust machine settings, such as temperature, pressure, and speed,
for optimal forging operations.
- Program machine controls and monitor the forging process to shape
and form metal products.
- Operate forging machines to apply pressure and heat, shaping materials
into desired forms.
- Inspect workpieces during and after forging for defects, cracks, or
irregularities.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
to verify dimensions.
- Make adjustments to machine settings and tooling to achieve required
specifications.
- Replace worn or damaged dies, tooling, and fixtures as needed.
- Clean and maintain machines, dies, and work areas to ensure cleanliness
and safety.
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform basic repairs or adjustments.
- Record production data, including quantities, dimensions, and specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to meet
production goals.
- Follow safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company policies at
all times.
- Duties may vary based on specific products, materials, and forging
processes within the company.
Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in forging
or machining preferred.
- Previous experience as a Forging Machine Operator, Setter, or similar
role in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of forging machine operations, tooling, and metallurgy principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and
technical specifications.
- Familiarity with heat treatment processes and temperature control
in forging operations.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and metrology equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in forging operations to
meet tight tolerances.
- Physical stamina for standing, bending, and lifting during machine
setup and operation.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot forging issues.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and
supervisors.
