Job Description
As a Furnace Operator and Tender at ForseMark, you will play a vital
role in the operation and monitoring of furnaces used in our manufacturing
processes,
with expertise in induction heating.
This position involves overseeing the heating, and
processing of materials to meet production requirements and quality
standards.

Typical Duties
- Operate and control furnaces, including induction heating equipment,
to heat and melt materials such as metal alloys, glass, or ceramics.
- Monitor furnace temperature, pressure, and other parameters to ensure
optimal heating and melting conditions.
- Load materials into furnaces using hoists, conveyors, or manual methods,
following safety protocols and procedures.
- Adjust furnace controls and settings to achieve precise temperatures
and heating rates for different materials.
- Monitor the flow of materials through the heating process, adjusting
feed rates or furnace settings as needed.
- Remove molten materials from furnaces and pour them into molds, crucibles,
or containers for further processing.
- Conduct tests and inspections on samples of melted materials to verify
quality, composition, and purity.
- Maintain and troubleshoot furnace equipment, performing routine inspections,
cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
to prevent accidents or exposure to hazards.
- Record production data, including temperatures, heating times, material
quantities, and any deviations from process parameters.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality control teams
to ensure efficient furnace operation and product quality.
- Clean and maintain work areas, furnaces, and equipment to ensure a
safe and organized work environment.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations related to
furnace operation and material handling.
Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification
in furnace operation or metallurgy preferred.
- Proven experience as a furnace operator or tender, with specific knowledge
of induction heating processes.
- Understanding of furnace controls, instrumentation, and heating principles.
- Familiarity with different types of materials and their melting points,
properties, and handling requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and instructions
for furnace operation and maintenance.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle materials, operate equipment,
and withstand high temperatures.
- Attention to detail and precision in monitoring and adjusting furnace
parameters.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members
and reporting on production activities.
- Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot furnace issues and optimize
heating processes.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in furnace
operations.
